REVIEWS

Three wheeled FUN! A cool experience that makes you feel like a super star at every intersection.

PEOPLE WILL STARE, POINT, WAVE, TAKE PICTURES AND SMILE!!

Performance

Polaris made the decision to use a front mounted, 2.4 inline GM ecotec motor out of the Saturn sky and

the Pontiac solstice to power the singular rear wheel. 173 HP does not seem like much, but when its

pushing only 1700 pounds youll be pleasantly surprised how quick the Slingshot will accelerate! Great

low end punch moves the Slingshot very quickly with a hand full of wheel spin under hard acceleration,

you can also expect a little second gear chirp!

Peak HP is generated high in the RPM range and the motor comes truly alive after 5000 RPM!

The slingshot is fitted with a 5 speed manual gear box that shifts smooth and quickly. Clutch feel is very

light and engages gradually, making the sling shot easy to get moving.

Braking

The slingshot uses 3 car sized disc brakes on all 3 corners. Though the brakes are not the strongest point

of this vehicle, they do stop it sufficiently. Moderate pressure is needed to bring it to a quick stop, and

they seem to bite harder once warmed up. For spirited or track like driving, upgraded brake pads would

be suggested. With cruising driving habits in mind, the brakes are more than enough for the 1700 pound

curb weight.

Handling

When you’re as wide as a Lamborghini Aventador and as short as a Mazda Miata , you can expect

INCREDIBLE front end grip and agile handling. Steering feel is accurate off center, and reactive to the

drivers input. With such a wide front track, drivers must be aware of how consuming the Slingshot is in

the roads lane. It is very wide! 225 series tires up front and a 255 tire in the rear, supplies adequate grip

in all driving conditions. The tires have a special compound that was developed just for the slingshot!

Traction control keeps the vehicle in check if you find yourself with a lack of grip.  Some understeer is

present during hairpin corners, with mild oversteer under power.

Comfort

A weather proof interior with an open cabin limits creature comforts. The Slingshot S and SL models are

fitted with a stereo and subwoofer, while the base model is not. The seats are comfortable, but lack

bolstering and support. Air channels set in the seat allow air to flow under and behind the driver to

increase airflow and circulation.  The ride is firm but not edgy. The slingshot is quite comfortable on

longer stints and would accommodate to a quick road trip. Cup holders, glovebox and two storage

compartments allow drivers and passengers to bring all they need for their adventure. Adjustable seats

make for a wide range of driver heights and driving positions. Cruise control works seamlessly and is a

simple, but appreciated feature.

Rideability

Drives must be mindful of the width and visibility of the slingshot, but with those facts aside, it is quite

easy to drive! Light clutch feel and car like driving features make the slingshot a familiar feeling

environment after a short driving period. It is a very unique experience to drive an open cabin, three

wheeled vehicle! With all the looks you get from pedestrians and other drivers on the road, you will find

yourself smiling consistently inside your helmet.

A motorcycle license is required to drive this vehicle and helmets are required.
